Korea Foundation in collaboration with AJARI (Association of Korean Language Educators in Indonesia) holds The 2nd Seminar on Korea 2021. Before the COVID-19 pandemic entered into Indonesia, the first seminar on Korea was held offline on January 31 2021 in collaboration with KF with the theme "The development of Korean language teaching and Korean studies in Indonesia". Meanwhile, the second seminar on Korea in this year is held online.In this year, AJARI is in collaboration with Korean language education study program, FPBS, UPI as well. This event specially invites the Director of Korea Foundation, Jakarta Office Mr. Bae Sung Won, the President of AJARI Professor Shin Young Duk, the General Secretary of AJARI Mr. Didin Samsudin, and the Treasurer of AJARI Mrs. Risa Triarisanti. In line with the theme of this year’s seminar, six distinctive speakers are invited to present their papers, related to Korean linguistics and history. The speakers are: Sri Wahyuningsih from UGM, Fitri Meutia from UNAS, Jayanti Megasari from UPI, Ashanti Widyana from UPI, Rostineu from UI, and Afriadi from UI. One-hundred participants consisting of university students, work training institutions, private work training institutions, and academics from diverse universities attended to this event by using Zoom application.
On the first day of the seminar, Mrs. Velayeti Nurfitriana Ansas (A lecturer at Korean language education study program, FPBS, UPI) serves as the Master of Ceremony, followed by welcoming speech from the President of AJARI Professor Shin Young Duk, the Director of Korea Foundation Mr. Bae Sung Won, and the Program Coordinator Mr. Didin Samsudin who also officially opens the event. The first day of the seminar was held on May 29, 2021, started at 10.30 (Western Indonesian Time), featuring three (3) speakers who are divided into three sessions, focusing on Korean linguistics. Mrs. Asma Azizah (A lecturer at Korean language education study program, FPBS, UPI) serves as the Moderator. The first session is presented by Sri Wahyuningsih from UGM about “A Corpus Linguistic Study Approach to Contrastive Study”. The second session is presented by Fitri Meutia from UNAS about “The Influence of Providing Background Knowledge and Presenting Vocabularies meaning on Text Comprehension of Indonesian Korean Learners”. The third session is presented by Jayanti Megasari from UPI about “The Comparison of Word Formation in Naming Korean and Indonesian Food: A Morphology Study”. The first day of the seminar ends at 14.00, and is closed by Mrs. Vela as the MC.
The second day of the seminar was held on May 29, 2021, started at 10.30 (Western Indonesian Time), featuring three (3) speakers who are divided into two sessions, focusing on Korean history. Mr. Arif Husein Lubis (A lecturer at Korean language education study program, FPBS, UPI) serves as the Moderator. The first session is presented by Ashanti Widyana from UPI about “The Early Generation of Yanggongju (Western Princess) and Their Life Polemics in 1950-1955”. The second session is presented by Rostineu and Afriadi from UI about “Korean History from the Perspective of Indonesian People”. The second session ends up the series of The 2nd Seminar on Korea 2021: “Focusing on Korean Linguistics and History”.
By holding this event annually, it is expected that the presentations can be beneficial in advancing the teaching and learning of Korean language, culture, and history, especially for Indonesian people in a broad scale and for Korean language teachers in a narrow scale. Through this event, it is also expected that Korea Foundation, AJARI, and all participating institutions can continue this good collaboration to better enhance Korean language teaching practices in Indonesia.
